Anti-union ad disgusting; citizens
should 'say no' to their message
Helena IR - 08/27/06
Letter to the editor
On my way home this evening I heard on the radio an advertisement
sponsored by a group calling themselves The Center for Union
Facts. I write because I am astounded at the tone and nature
of this ad.
Whatever happened to reasonable decorum?
This particular ad slammed public employees, inferring they
only worked until 3 p.m. and did not care about simple customer
courtesy.
In my time in Helena I have been chairman of the Helena Chamber
of Commerce, Helena city commissioner and served nearly 30
years in various roles at Mountain Bell/US West.
I have never been a member of organized labor. I have always
had mutual respect for the people I worked with and who worked
for me. In Mountain Bell/US West the bargained-for employees
were of the highest caliber. Providing customer service was
their highest priority.
At the City of Helena, I was proud to work with bargained-for
employees. Their skills and dedication to this community are
second to none.
All Citizens of Helena, whether served by a union or not
should be appalled by such filth as is in these advertisements.
I think we should absolutely say no to this kind if irresponsible
garbage.
