Candidates support and assistance

It has been MEA-MFT's and MPTF's great privilege to provide three statewide candidate assistance sessions every year since 1997. During these sessions, candidates receive tips on completing the National Board Certification process from National Board Certified teachers.

Scholarships now available for 2008-09 school year.

Trained facilitators help evaluate portfolio entries and coach candidates on material selection and assessment center preparations.

MPTF provides these candidate assistance sessions at no charge and actually pay for candidates' lodging and mileage when they attend, subject to available funding.

Facilitators: Currently, MPTF has a cadre of four trained facilitators. They are:

Margaret Bowles, National Board Certified Teacher (Middle Childhood Generalist), Helena

Marco Ferro, Director of Public Policy, MEA-MFT, Helena

Char Bunker, National Board Certified Teacher (Middle Childhood Generalist), Great Falls

Terri Dahl, National Board Certified Teacher, (Adolescence and Young Adulthood/Mathematics), Great Falls

All National Board Certification candidates throughout Montana are invited to attend these assistance sessions. However, MPTF cannot invite candidates if they have not indicated on their candidate applications that they are willing to share their candidate information with 3rd party providers.

Questions? If you have any questions about candidate support in Montana or becoming involved in these sessions, please contact Marco Ferro of MEA-MFT at mferro@mea-mft.org.
