Legislative contact info 2005

Thank you for contacting your legislators! You'll be most effective if you keep your message brief and polite. Important! Please don't use work computers, phones, or FAX machines to contact legislators!

E-mailing legislators:
Use the legislature's online message form. (This is probably the safest way to e-mail legislators.)

Some legislators have personal e-mails. Click here to find them. (Then click on individual legislator's name.)

Use the same rules as for writing legislators (see below).

Calling legislators:
Call 406-444-4800 to leave a phone message for legislators. You can leave a message for up to 5 legislators or all members of a committee. You'll be asked for your name, home address, phone number, and brief message. Mention the bill number and title; ask the legislator(s) to oppose or support it.

Writing legislators:
Check this alphabetical list of legislators if you're not sure about name spellings. Address letters or cards as follows:

Representative _______(full name)
c/o Montana House
PO Box 200400
Helena, MT 59620
Dear Representative (last name)

Senator_______ (full name)
c/o Montana Senate
PO Box 200500
Helena, MT 59620
Dear Senator (last name)

Include your name, home address, and position (teacher, state employee, etc.).

Include the number and title of the bill you are writing about. Say why you support or oppose that bill. Keep it brief! One page is plenty.

Be sure to THANK legislators for considering your view!

Proofread carefully!

FAXing legislators:
House FAX number: 444-4825
Senate FAX number: 444-4875

Use the same rules as for writing legislators.

Who are my legislators?
If you're not sure, check the state's interactive legislative map. Or call your county clerk and recorder's office. They'll ask your home address.

Or visit this alphabetical list of legislators.
