National president to help
celebrate Work That Matters
Jan. 21, '10 - American Federation of Teachers (AFT) President Randi Weingarten got a standing ovation when she spoke passionately about the importance of public services and public employees at MEA-MFT's celebration launching our Work That Matters campaign.
Work That Matters is MEA-MFT's campaign for public employees. AFT is one of MEA-MFT's two national affiliates, along with the National Education Association (NEA).
Work That Matters tour
Weingarten visited Montana Jan. 21-22, beginning in Bozeman, where she met with members of MEA-MFT's new local affiliate, the Associated Faculty of MSU-Bozeman.
She then visited with the Federation of Jefferson County Employees in Boulder.
Weingarten joined with about 100 MEA-MFT leaders, members, and state officials at a Work That Matters celebration in Helena the evening of Jan. 21.
She continued her listening tour Jan. 22, when she visited MEA-MFTs members working in the Dept. of Public Health and Human Services and Montana Historical Society.

"This is a big deal," said MEA-MFT President Eric Feaver. "It is gratifying to have our national affiliate recognize our Work That Matters campaign. AFT has also helped fund this campaign, and we are grateful for the support."
