Head Start statewide meeting

MEA-MFT’s Head Start State Network met June 21 and 22 in Helena. “We brought together leaders from all of our Head Start locals to develop an action plan for legislative and bargaining success in the coming year,” said MEA-MFT Organizing Director Melissa Case. 


“MEA-MFT will try again to pass a bill providing state funding for Head Start in the 2011 Legislature, while also working to enhance federal funding for Head Start.”

Leaders from Head Start locals in Missoula, Helena, Great Falls, Bozeman, and Butte will attend the event.

In addition, MEA-MFT invited Head Start leaders who are working with MEA-MFT to organize local unions in places such as Anaconda, Billings, and Lewistown.

Staff from the American Federation of Teachers were also be on hand to share their expertise and talk about recent developments with Head Start funding on the national level. Two leaders from each Head Start local are invited to attend.
