Opportunity for science, math, English teachers
The Montana Office of Public Instruction is bringing together 30 teachers (10 math, 10 English Language Arts, and 10 science) to work with the OPI instructional coordinators to align high quality assessment items to Montana’s Common Core Standards (MCCS) and the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).
This item-analysis will illustrate the interconnected nature of the career- and college-ready standards specifically giving teachers hands-on experience with the focus, rigor and coherence of these new standards. This item-to-standards alignment will ultimately provide a deeper understanding of the standards. This study will take place July 14-16, 2014 in Helena, Montana. This work gives teachers an in-depth and comprehensive understanding of the cognitive demands of the MCCS and the NGSS. The work performed in this study will serve the needs of schools/districts as they transition to career- and college-ready standards.
