Free health care coverage for kids
Pass the word!
Are your students eligible for free or low cost health care
coverage?
Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies: The Montana Coalition (HMHB),
in conjunction with Covering Kids and Families, has launched
its annual Back-to-School enrollment drive to make sure parents
know their kids are eligible.
This effort encourages parents of uninsured children to get
their kids enrolled in CHIP (Children's Health Insurance Program)
or other low-cost or free health care coverage programs.
Kids with health care coverage are better prepared to learn
in school. The coverage offered through CHIP and other low-cost
or free health care coverage programs means health security
for kids and peace of mind for parents.
Help is available
There are over 35,000 uninsured children in Montana, and many
of them are eligible for free or low-cost health care coverage.
Coverage is offered through CHIP, Medicaid, The Caring Program
for Children, the Montana Comprehensive Health Association
(MCHA), Montana Youth Care, Montana Mental Health Services
plan and Children's Special Health Services.
Many families are not aware that their children may qualify
for coverage. In Montana, a family of four can earn up to
$30,000 a year or more and still qualify for CHIP. Eligibility
is based on family size and income. While the number of enrollees
is limited, there is currently no waiting list, and new enrollees
are added every month.
Call the HMHB toll-free hotline number (800.421.6667) for
more information about the Back-to-School project and order
free materials (bookmarks and flyers) for students,
These materials provide information about how parents can
enroll their children in a low-cost or free health care program.
Please help provide information to parents so they can get
their children enrolled in a health care program. Contact
