I-154: payoff for developers
Where I-154 came from: Written by outside developers,
for outside developers. Bankrolled by Howie Rich.
Montana front group: Montanans In Action "Protect
Our Homes" committee.
What I-154 does: Creates a "pay or waive"
system. Irresponsible developers who want to dodge laws that
protect our homes and communities must be paid if that law
would cause them any economic loss. Or else the law must be
waived.
In other words: If developers wanted to put a porno
shop next door to a school, and if neighbors tried to stop
it using city zoning laws, the developers could force the
city to pay them off for any alleged loss of revenue. Otherwise,
the city must waive the zoning law.
Why I-154 is bad: I-154 is a radical measure that
allows outside developers to do whatever they want, while
handcuffing local efforts to protect our kids, homes, and
families.
Why we don't need I-154: Montana already has laws
that really do protect us against eminent domain abuse. I-154
is a scam. Learn more at http://no154.org/
